Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art has organised an exhibition entitled, “Skyscraper: Art and Architecture Against Gravity”, open through 23 September 2012.
This exhibition brings together contemporary works that take as their subject the iconic image of the skyscraper in a wide range of mediums. The city of Chicago, which has become notorious for phallic architecture, has invited a considerable number of artists who have examined the skyscraper as their subject; works by Fikret Atay, Jennifer Bolande, Roger Brown, Jeff Carter, Roe Ethridge, Jonathan Horowitz, Bodys Isek Kingelez, Jakob Kolding, Vera Lutter, Abelardo Morell, Eliza Myrie, Ahmet Ögüt , Claes Oldenburg, Gabriel Orozco, Enoc Perez, Monika Sosnowska, Thomas Struth, Jan Tichy, Andy Warhol, Peter Wegner, H. C. Westermann, Wesley Willis, Catherine Yass, and Shizuka Yokomizo are to be featured.
