Zeren Göktan completed her undergraduate and graduate education at Bilkent University, Faculty of Architecture, Art, and Design, (Graphic Design/Painting Department) at Ankara, Turkey. She then completed her second master’s degree at Boston Tufts University (full scholarhip), USA, focusing on media; photography, video, and sound.
She opened her first solo exhibition at Maçka Art Gallery in 1997. “Counter”, her solo show which took place at Zilberman Gallery in 2013, follows the lead of a multi-phase project that includes installation and an online website; anitsayac.com: a digital monument dedicated to femicides in Turkey. Her latest solo show “Deep Blue” Photography Series exhibited at Zülfaris Synagogue Karaköy, Istanbul in March 2021.
The installation, video, and photos of the artist whose works have been shown in many exhibitions organized by Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center, Istanbul Biennial, Istanbul Modern, DEPO, SALT, Akbank Art and Culture Center, have been exhibited in countries such as America, Italy, England, Russia and Greece. Her work has been published in both local and international journals, books.
Some of the works of Göktan met with the audience in September 2019 at the 16th Istanbul Biennial Parallel Event, Gallery Nev’s exhibition at Maçka Art Gallery, “The Whole Planet Was Inside” and at the “Golden Age” exhibition. 2021/2022 her work exhibited at SALT ‘’The Skin, Body and I’’, and at OMM Museum ‘’Deep is the Past’’.
